June 29, 2011

BEND, OR – Bend Research Inc. (www.bendresearch.com), a leading independent drug-formulation development and manufacturing company, has been named Large Distinguished Business of the Year by the Bend Chamber of Commerce membership.

The award was announced at the Chamber’s annual SAGE Awards banquet in late May.

According to the Bend Chamber, the annual award recognizes the large business among the Bend Chamber membership that has "…a reputation for providing outstanding products and/or services to their customers."

The Chamber noted that Bend Research is a "…cornerstone of Central Oregon’s high-tech industry, taking pride in improving human health through innovation as well as contributing to the next generation of scientists."

"We're very honored to receive this award from the Chamber," said Rod Ray, president and chief executive officer of Bend Research Inc. "Our Central Oregon roots are a big part of what this company is all about, so this recognition means a lot to us."

The SAGE Awards is a competitive process. Businesses are nominated and then voted on by the Bend Chamber membership. Other nominees in the large business category were Eberhard’s Dairy Products, family-owned and operated since 1951; and Tomco Electric Inc., established in 1973.

The Bend Chamber is one of the largest and most active chambers in Oregon, representing 1,200 businesses with more than 23,000 employees. In addition to acknowledging a distinguished large business, the chamber also recognized Donner Flowers as the Small Distinguished Business of the Year; Saving Grace as the Outstanding Organization of the Year; and Oran Teater, business leader and former mayor of Bend, as Citizen of the Year.
